Step Two: Things to Do Before Your Volunteer Day

Create three contacts in your phone, so you can call these people if you need them.

  1. Steve Follin, primary contact person for our Race Day Command Center: (770) 329-8818

  2. Dr. Joe Colasurdo, Lead Medical Co-Director: (585) 857-3735

  3. Lisa Patton, Volunteers Coordinator: (706) 564-4026

Download the “what3words” app onto your phone.

  • Lisa will send you or your group’s leader a “what3words” link that will tell you exactly where to be. The link will work best if Lisa is already a contact in your phone and if you already have the app.

Know where to be.

  • If you signed up as an individual, your location is listed on your RunSignUp page and/or in your “what3words” email from Lisa.

  • If you are volunteering as part of a group (such as a high school club or a local business who volunteered as a group), your group’s leader will tell you where to be.

Know when to be there.

  • If you signed up as an individual, the sign-up sheets and your confirmation email from RunSignUp will tell you the starting and ending times of your shift.

  • If you are volunteering as part of a group (such as a high school club or a local business who volunteered as a group), your group’s leader will tell you when to arrive.

Figure out your transportation or parking.

  • It might not be easy to get to where you need to be on race day, because road closures for the course might prevent you from getting to the course! Spend some time ahead of race day with the course maps. The information in the detailed Guides for runners, relay teams, and spectators might also be useful.

Read about your role.

Use the links at the end of these general instructions to find the details about your role. Read all about it, so you know exactly what you will be doing during your volunteer time. (You can also get to your page by using the “Details” menu in the header of this website.)
